MEMORANDUM

TO:         ECRH Nursing Staff
FROM: Kathey Rawson, Nurse Educator
SUBJECT:      Continuing Education Requirements
DATE:         July 20, 2015
1.  In accordance with Section IV.2 of the ECRH Nursing Procedures Manual, “All nursing personnel that work under a professional license are required to maintain that licensure or certification”(ECRH Nursing Procedure Manual, January 2013, IV.2, p.1).
2. As of January 31, 2016, all nurses must show continued competency in order to renew their nursing license. If your license expires January 31, 2016, you must complete one of the listed options prior to applying for renewal. Our licenses must be renewed every two years, and whichever option you choose, must be completed between renewals. If your license expires in 2017, you can complete your proof of competency anywhere between January 2015 and January 2017.
3. Since you cannot renew your license without completing the requirements, and you cannot work for ECRH, or anywhere else, as a nurse without a license, the consequences are clear. You must complete the requirements for one of the options.
